“All you need is Love… All you need is Love… Love…. Love is all you need!!”
And yes the Beatles were correct all you do need is Love, “EDEN MILL – LOVE” that is!!!
St Andrews is a Scottish Town situated on the East Coast of Scotland and is famous in many ways, it is home to the amazing St Andrews University (the 3rd oldest University in the English speaking world), which was made even more famous by the attendance of Prince William. It hosts the oldest golf course in the world, known as the “Home of Golf”. So this relatively small Scottish Town is renowned for many reasons, being home to a world famous University and golf course and now it is home to an amazing gin!! I introduce you to the wonderful Eden Mill Gin!!
“Eden Mill – St Andrews” humble beginnings began with the dream and mission to revive the lost St Andrew’s art of distilling and brewing; and they are now Scotland’s first single-site distillery/brewery… creating not only gin but also making their own whiskeys and beers. But their gin put them on the map, foraging native botanicals from their surroundings the master distillers have created recipes that have truly enticed gin lovers far and wide! The Eden Mill gin family is rapidly growing, currently the company has released the following:
Original – Their take on a London Dry
Love – Sweet, floral & fruity gin
Oak – Aged oak gin
Hop – A marriage of brewing / distilling methods to create a hoppy gin
Golf – summer inspired, using botanicals from the coastal golf courses of Scotland
The distillery also released seasonal gins such a Milk Thistle Gin, Festive Gin, Summer Punch Gin to name but a few. And they have also launched gin liqueurs with flavours such as Lemon & Raisin, Sour Cherry & Coconut and Pear & Cassia. Eden Mill are releasing some amazing libations but today I am going to focus on one, and if you hadn’t guessed from my opening rendition of a Beatles track yes it is Eden Mill – Love!
Eden Mill – Love Gin was released on Valentines Day in 2016, and is famous for its lovely blush, pink hue! The master distillers wanted to create something that exhibited their great love of the spirit so they began to bring together botanicals from across the world and created this amazing libation. The gin’s key botanicals are:
Rose Petals
Marshmallow Root
Goji Berries
Whole Hibiscus Flowers
The resulting spirit offers a complex mixture of sweet, floral and fruity which is light and not overpowering, resulting in a delicate, tasty gin! Eden Mill recommend a perfect serve with Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade which is truly delicious, but I went for
Plain Tonic
A mixture of frozen berries
Lots of ice
The frozen berries start to thaw and soften releasing a lovely berry explosion which really compliments the smooth vanilla notes that come through. This is a delicious gin, so at those gift times of the year such as birthdays, mothers day, fathers day or just general person appreciation day… grab a bottle of this and nab a glass or 2 of it for yourself!!! Cannot wait to get other Eden Mill treats into my collection!! Truly a Scottish Gem!!
An amazing post. I didn’t knew gin to. have so many variations and attributes. Thanks for sharing!
